Und jetzt kommen die Kamele! A parade of contemporary sculptures

Opening 11 september 7.30 pm at De Volharding.

Exhibition on view 11 sept - 27 sept 2026.

"The exhibition space at De Volharding is certainly not a typical gallery or "white cube." It is, however, a place that powerfully captures the imagination.

Lucas Hoeben—the collaborative name adopted by visual artist Karla Hoeben and artist/curator Martijn Lucas Smit—felt immediately drawn to the location. It challenged them to develop an exhibition concept specifically for this space.

Und jetzt kommen die Kamele! is an exhibition where the walls are left entirely bare, while the hall is populated by a parade of sculptures. No fewer than 22 artists are contributing work to the exhibition:

Karien Beijers, Lola Bezemer, Lex ter Braak, Erik de Bree, Puck Dekker, Anno Dijkstra, Marieke Gelissen, Lucas Hoeben, Marianne Hotske Hamersma, Stefan Kasper, Claus-Pierre Leinenbach, Andrew March, Charlott Markus, Federico Murgia, Eva Pel, Ilona Plaum, Jacob Schwartz, Marlies Vander Straeten, Veerle Thoben, Sietske Zandbergen, Monika Zarzeczna, Baoyang Zhao."
